Congratulations to Elise and Alex!! Super awesome for them! I guess it´s true then- President Trump is going to be stepping in as president. I can understand why Dad would feel frustrated. I do admit one thing that bothers me is there is a huge tendency among all groups of people to magnify the faults of a person that is associated with an "opposing group". I read a marketing study on that topic during my pre-Phd seminar. The time I´ve spent around Dad, as well as many of the crazy electricians has really helped me to see people more impartially and to analyze with more care.
Also- Happy Birthday Mom!! I could try with all of my might, and I don´t believe I would ever find a better mother! Thanks for all you have done for me and our family!
As for the weather- we were expecting a lot of heat and instead we got a really strange mix of heat and a lot of wind. There were multiple days where it looked like it was going to rain the whole day and we didn´t get even a drop! While it wasn´t raining outside we were blessed to have a "splash" inside this past week- the baptism of Luis!
The baptism of Luis was really awesome. He has such a good guy. He is always coming early to the meetings and is always excited to see us! We had a beautiful baptismal service Saturday and an even better Sunday with his confirmation.
To add to the excitement of the baptism, Elder Salmon and I had an absolutely incredible week. We worked like crazy as we are preparing to have an absolutely monumental December here in the mission. The goal of the mission is 376 baptisms which is roughly four baptisms for each companionship! If we achieve the goal we will have achieved more baptisms in one month than the mission has ever had!
With that in mind, we have been teaching and contacting at every opportunity. We had several miracles as we worked through our plans to achieve the goal of four baptisms in December.
First, plans for the baptism of Violeta, the daughter of a recent convert, are back on track. When I first arrived we were working with Violeta but her father (not a member) said that she could not be baptised. We passed by to talk with her and her Mom this week and the timing could not have been better. Within 15 minutes the Dad of Violeta came to pick her up and her Mom discussed plans for the baptism of Violeta with him. After some discussion....he said yes! We just picked up teaching Violeta again, and I must say- teaching kids is way different than adults- but is also way more fun!
Second, we taught like crazy this week! When I say that, I mean it. I have yet to teach as many lessons in one week as we taught this week, and the lessons were really good too. We were sincerely inviting people to come unto Christ. The "cherries on top" were Friday and Sunday.
Friday Elder Salmon hit his one year mark in the mission. I did my best to whip a cake in the morning with a super basic frosting to celebrate and we hit the streets after our studies! That day was incredible- we taught almost double the number of lessons than I have accomplished at other times in the mission.
Sunday was a miracle with the help of the members. We had planned to have members go on visits with us many days during the week and the plans fell through almost every time. However, we were determined to involve the members and were extremely blessed to have 3 members come along with us- allowing us to do splits and teach more people!
Overall, it was a week filled with mini miracles, and lots of blessings from the Lord. I know that he is aware of Elder Salmon and I. I know that he is extremely interested in our well being, and that we help as many people as possible to come unto Jesus Christ.
Thanks so much for the Focusing Commandments and the reminder of the Thanksgiving season. I want to express my grattitude for my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, I know that it is only through his merits, mercy, and grace that I can be saved. I´m grateful for an incredible family that have taught me to follow Jesus Christ with all of my might, mind, heart, and strength. I´m grateful to be here in el barrio Atalaya in the mission Buenos Aires Oeste.
At times this week, I found that I was so caught up in the details that I forgot to recognize the bigger picture- the beauty of the world all around me that God has given me. As I stepped back I recognized the miracle of a world filled with individuals that are all sons and daughters of a loving Heavenly Father. We have been provided with everything we need to live and have joy in our families. I want to express my grattitude for my blessing to live in a world so filled with beauty.
With all of my heart,
