Feliz Dia de las Fantasmas! 10/31/16

Hola familia!!! Happy Halloween!

Similar to Noelle in Australia, Halloween is kind of, sort of a thing here. People don´t dress up or celebrate the way we do in the United States but there is at least decorations every here and there on people´s houses or in stores.

That´s way cool to hear that Dad filmed his music video! I hope he enjoyed the process and that it all turns out well! I think he´s really been improving with his leadership abilities. I don´t know how he feels, but it seems that he´s been able to improve himself and attract better and better talent around him as he has continued to improve! Kudos to him and happy birthday!!!

It´s a little sad to hear about the condition of Grandpa worsening, but I´m glad that we have such an awesome family that is always supporting one another and can be there to help Grandpa and Grandma!

As for life here in Argentina, Elder Salmon and I had a great first week together! Unfortunately, we were not able to maintain the tradition of having a baptism the first weekend of each one of my transfers, but we really worked hard so that we can have a month filled with baptisms!

It was a bit difficult this week unfortunately with Marcelo, he is adjusting to the married life and has been working hard to pay off all of his debts. However, this meant that we weren´t able to have a lesson with him until Friday! He still has a lot to learn about the gospel, but he has sincere desires to be baptized and take this step in his life.

To be honest, I´m little preocupied because he didn´t come to church yesterday nor his family- a rarity since Cynthia has been really committed to the church and he has been very consistent. I´m going to continue exercising my faith that we can determine a way to help Marcelo and if it is still his desire to enter into the church of Jesus Christ and follow him that we are going to have his baptism in the coming couple of weeks!

As for an update on my new comp- Elder Salmon is from Alabama. He has a big family- 6 brothers and 1 sister. He is number 7 of the 8 children. He played soccer all of his life, and seems like he is almost as obsessed as Elder Benitez was with "futbol". He has been in the mission for almost a year now, and I´m his first companion that has less time in the mission than him.

What has struck me the most about Elder Salmon has been his humility. I can tell that he really has sincere desires to work and do what´s right. It was a great reminder because I noticed that as my abilities have been improving in the language, I feel like I have been relying more on my abilities as a "teacher" and less on the Spirit, but the truth is that I cannot teach without the Spirit! No matter what I know about teaching, people, or even the gospel I will never "convert" someone. The only power that can convert someone is the power of the Spirit. I really want to really more than ever on the Spirit and focus on being available to the suggestions of the Spirit at all times and in all places.

Remember to trust in the Lord in all thy doings and lean not unto thy own understanding! Jesus Christ lives! He and our father in heaven have made it possible that we can learn eternal truths in this life! I know that as I trust in my testimony of God and Jesus Christ I have been lead by the spirit. Seek the Spirit in your lives this week as you go about doing good!

Best,
Elder Lambert
