Cargue las pilas y haga sus despedidas, 12/5/16

Hola Familia! Gracias por su carta Mamá!

One more transfer down the tubes. I could have sworn it was just yesterday that Elder Salmon and I left the offices of the mission and headed to Atalaya. However, it looks like my time in Atalaya has come to an end. I´m going to leave the area in the capable hands of Elder Salmon and hope for the best.

As for my new area- drum roll please....Santos Lugares! Tomorrow I´ll be heading to the mission offices to meet my new companion, Elder Hinostroza, and I´ll have to adapt to a whole new ward, new investigators, etc. Wish me luck!

Sounds like the Christmas mood is in the air in the US! Christmas is a thing here, but it´s not all that extravagant. When I think about it, Christmas time is probably the time of year when we really see how spoiled we are in America jaja.

As for Christmas miracles, we just received our first gift this last Saturday- the baptism of Violeta! It was a beautiful event and it was awesome to see Violeta and her family in the baptismal service. The coolest part was that her Dad that is not a member came! He seems like a really nice again even if he wasn´t really supportive of her desires to be baptized in the beginning. It was really awesome to see the support of both of her parents even though they have taken different paths in life- they both want the best for their daughter.

To add to the baptism we had an awesome fast and testimony meeting Sunday. I had the privelege to confirm Violeta, and then really felt the spirit as several of the members bore their testimonies. I especially was touched by the testimony of Alberto Suarez, the step-father of Violeta. He talked about how the blessings come after the trial of your faith. Saturday morning he had his work party for Christmas and all of his co-workers were drinking wine, something that he would have done as well 6 months back. He stayed true to his beliefs, and came to the baptism where he was able to see Violeta´s dad in attendance. Eliana and Alberto had prayed for the last several months that Violeta´s dad could soften his heart and allow Violeta to be baptized. After the trial of his faith that morning, Alberto was able to see the answer to his prayer´s.

I´m grateful for the opportunity I have to serve as a missionary. I believe that God always sees the big picture. As we follow the promptings of the Spirit we will be where the Lord needs us. We may not see the big picture as we follow the Spirit, but God knows his children and will direct us as we allow him. I know that Jesus Christ is our Savior. I hope that you all may be filled with his light this December.

Love,
Elder Lambert

Baptism of Violeta.
