Un Genio, 9/26/16

Hola Mamá y familia!

Sounds like you were able to make the most of the week alone Mom! I´m glad that Landon was able to stop in and spend time with you! What a good kid! I´m also glad that you got to spend time with Grandma Lambert. I´m very lucky to know all of my grandparents, and to know that all of my grandparents are great people that I can learn from!

This last week, has been another ride. Elder Benitez and I are working hard here in Atalaya. We have been able to have some really cool experiences, and I have felt that we have definitely been blessed as we have strived to do what the Lord expects of us as missionaries!

To start off, we had the amazing baptism of Cynthia last week, and were hoping that Micaela could be baptized Saturday the 24th. We worked with her through the week, and she had her baptismal interview! We weren´t able to have the baptism yet, but she is very close to being ready. We are now working for the 8th of October for her baptism!

The icing on the cake this past week was really our church meetings yesterday! We were able to have five of our investigators there! In the meetings we had: Marcelo (boyfriend of Cynthia), Micaela, Violeta (daughter of the Suarez family), Marcelo Acevedo and his wife Mariel Guzman! One of the awesome less active members came too! Mirta had not been to a meeting in 10 years and come with us! Woot woot!

Marcelo Acevedo and Mariel Guzman were really a miracle for us. They have been investigating the church for quite some time. Mariel has a testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel, and they have expressed their desire to be baptized. However, they have not as of yet been converted completely to the gospel! It has been months since they have attended church, and they have found a new reason each day to not get married!

We had a very powerful lesson with them this past Saturday. We discussed repentance, and how ultimately in choosing to remain a couple and not get married they are choosing to sin. I felt impressed to share about someone else who didn´t want to do something difficult- Jesus Christ! Christ did not want to suffer in the garden of Getheamane, but chose to do submit to the will of the father that all of us might be saved! The reality of this has had a powerful impact on my life- the selfishness of choosing to sin or go against the will of our God. When I shared this I could tell that the reality of their choice was more in perspective, and I invited them to be baptized the 5th of November. They said yes!!

Of course, they now need to take the first step by going today to acquire paperwork that they need for the marriage and then return Friday to get the documentation for when they can have their wedding. However, for the first time since we started teaching them they seem to be willfully choosing the will of our father in heaven rather than passively remaining in the influence of the enemy of all!

That´s the crazy thing- all we need to do in order to be in the influence of Satan is to choose not to improve, and not to change. We must act in order that we might accept the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ in our lives! So rather than accepting the messages of Satan that surround us in the world today, be an agent of change! Act for the better! Let your voice be heard!

I know that the Savior lives! I m eternally grateful for the sacrifice of my savior Jesus Christ! Remember to always have your weapons of war at hand! The stick of Ephraim (Book of Mormon) and the stick of Judah (Bible) are our sword of truth to cut through the lies of the world! Put your armor on, grab your weapons of war and go to work! :)

Love,
Elder Lambert
