Congrats Mom and Dad on 29 years together!!!! Woo hoo!!! I love you guys! You are great examples for me and I hope you can celebrate many more amazing years together! I love you guys!
To give yall a quick recap of my current whereabouts- I´m currently in my second transfer, but I´m in the same area that I started out in, Atalaya. I have been working in the same area, but am working with a new companion, Elder Benitez, from Paraguay.
Not that we´re all up to speed- the word of the week is "casamiento". In other words, MY RECENT CONVERT CYNTHIA AND HER BOYFRIEND MARCELO GOT MARRIED THIS WEEK!!!! Woohoo! We were very happy for them and that they took such an awesome step forward! We were very blessed to attend the wedding service and a small lunch celebration afterwards. They are very few couples that are married here in Argentina so it is really awesome that they made this step in their lives. Cynthia has such a strong desire to live just before God and Marcelo has really progressed in his desire to help his family as well. We´re still working with him so that he can be baptized this month!
To add to the news for the week, we had two days of exchanges- once with other elders in our district, and once with our zone leaders! I had the privelege to work in the area of Los Pinos with Elder Udall from Arizona this past Tuesday and then to work in the area of the Tablada with Elder Wilcox from Heber City, Utah this past Friday! I really learned a lot as I worked with both of them. I really enjoy working with the zone leaders because they really exert themselves to invite others to come unto Christ! I am really trying to follow their examples and show more love to everybody here!
Some small examples of things I have really been trying to do recently to show more love and exert my faith more include: the custom of "besos" is common here and even though as missionaries this isn´t appropriate with members of the opposite sex it is totally alright for us with members of the same sex. With that in mind, my comp grew up here so it has been natural that with the male members of the church we greet each other with this custom! Another thing that I´m doing is every day I´m inviting at least one member to help is with the missionary work here by inviting them to come to lessons with us! Honestly, so many people in the world want to do the right thing, and we only need more people to invite them to do the right thing!
It hasn´t been that long since I adopted these two simple ideas but I really feel that it has helped me to feel closer with the members here and is helping our investigators as well. We´re praying that we can continue to invite Marcelo, Veronica, Micaela, and Daniel to come unto Christ by being baptized! I hope that I can see this miracle in the month of October, but know that God´s will will be done as we continue to work with all of our heart might, mind, and strength!
I know that my redeemer lives! The most powerful tool we have is a pure testimony. A pure testimony trusts completely in the blessings of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! As I bear pure testimony, and invite others to come unto Christ, trusting that putting God before all else (work, food, etc.) will bring promised blessings, I have been blessed to see beautiful changes in the lives of those I have taught. There´s a long way to go but I hope to continue to trust in my Savior!
Love,
Elder Lambert
