I loved your letter Mom! It was great to hear about your experience praying together as a family in Boise. It´s also pretty crazy to hear about the possibility of having exchange students in the house. I would probably be a bit nervous myself as a parent. Teenagers can cause all kinds of problems these days jaja. We´re all children of God though, and I know that he is there to help all of us! Remember to pray and go to God in all things!
My companion speaks fantastically. He grew up speaking Spanish in his house, so he was only in the MTC for a week before coming to the mission field. It really was a privelege to be able to participate in the baptism of Julieta and to have so many members involved to help her as she joins the church. It is really so much easier when we as members reach out with love and are willing to sacrifice to help someone. The gospel is powerful, and it´s even more power when we all act and sacrifice the way our Savior Jesus Christ did.
As for this past week- it was pretty crazy. Of course, I was sick on my birthday, and the sickness has been following me into this week although I´ve been feeling better than I felt last Thursday. Despite battling sickness and spending basically all of my birthday in the apartment we were able to see some miracles of God as we worked.
The first miracle was with a woman named Daniela that we had contacted the previous week. As we began to talk to Daniela, she told us that she has known the relief society president of the ward- Hermana Zulma for years. With that in mind, we set up a follow up time and told her that we would bring Hna Zulma with us.
The lesson was incredibly good, and Daniela came out of it with a lot of excitement to come to church, learn, and be baptised. It´s really amazing to see the impact it has on people when they know people who are strong, faithful members of the church. When we are examples of Jesus Christ, people are so much more receptive to come and see just as we were invited to do by Jesus Christ himself.
Our other miracle was with an investigator named Zulema. Zulema had been accepting us with a lot of excitement and we were very excited to help her to progress towards baptism. This last week we went by to visit her and found that her front door was closed (a rare occurence in the little time that we have known her). Her neighbor told us that she had moved the day before but that she didn´t know exactly where- only that it is about three blocks away from her old us.
We continued working, and then Saturday night we decided to go pass by for a former investigator. On the way, we saw a really old woman crossing a street. She was carrying to big bags and walking with a cane, and we asked if we could help her carry her things. She accepted and we arrived with her to the house of her friend.
To our amazement, her friend was none other than Zulema, and we were able to teach Zulema along with her friend, Alicia. It was really a beautiful moment, and Zulema told us that she had been worried if we would be able to find her, but that her son had assured her that he had seen us walking close by to where the new house is. By god´s grace we were able to find Zulema again, and we hope that she can progress to be baptised along with Alicia the coming 8th of April.
To be honest, we also had some other beautiful moments in finding. We have been trying alot more to just talk with everyone and teach in every situation. I have really loved being able to just sit down on the street at times with people and teach them about the gospel of Jesus Christ. There are a lot of people that need his help and I want to see miracles happen by his hand. We are continuing to set really high goals for contacting, and we have a lot of people that we would like to help progress towards baptism in these coming weeks.
